Hena Kai Nea (March 2015)

So tonight we honor the Goddess Hecate, and according to the book that I bought back in December, Helos. Looking at the honoring of both Hecate and Helos I can sort of see what the author is talking about. Helos is the sun god and I mean the actual sun. He pulls the sun across the sky with skill, unlike his son Phaeton, who was killed by Zeus, and brings us the warmth that allows things to grow and keeps winter away.

I think that honoring Helos, especially since it's the first day of spring, is fitting. Though when I got the book I didn't understand why Hecate and Helos were being honored together. I figure that the group feels that Hecate and Helos are to be placed together. I hope that you all have a good one and have a wonderful first day of spring.

Ancient Greek Jug found in Celtic Prince's Grave

I know that everyone that is Hellenic knows about the Celtic Prince's grave that happens to have Hellenic jugs in them as well as other items that clearly comes from Greece. This tells a lot about how trade between the Greeks and the Celts connected. The Greeks talk about the Celts raiding Delphi and laughing at the statues of the gods. So when this grave was found I got excited. Especially with what was found. So, once again, we have another news article. Sorry about the photo being down at the bottom. My computer is trying to grow a brain, seriously. The section in parentheses is connected to the photo.

(National Institute of Preventive Archaeological Research (INRAP) archaeologists unearthed the tomb of an ancient Celtic ruler in Lavau, France. They were surprised to find an ancient Greek wine jug – decorated with images of Greek god Dionysus – buried in the tomb along with the prince. - See more at: http://eu.greekreporter.com/2015/03/16/france-ancient-greek-jug-found-in-celtic-princes-grave/?#sthash.mZ8lKM4D.dOKhvNvV.dpuf)

“The ancient princely tomb, which was discovered in a large burial mound, was filled with stunning grave goods, including gorgeous pots and a gold-tipped drinking vessel. The giant jug was decorated with images of the Greek god of wine and revelry, and was probably made by Greek or Etruscan artists,” reported Live Science.
The Celtic tomb was found in the Lavau area, along with three more tombs dating back to around 500 B.C., however, it appears that this specific tomb in “younger” than the rest. According to Live Science, foreigner burials in France used to be quite common because merchants came to the area hoping to open up trade routes in the area.
The ancient Greek wine jug that was found buried in the tomb depicted Dionysus enjoying some female company under a vine, a picture that is common in Greek iconography. Furthermore, archaeologists noted that the bottom is lined with gold designs.

I'm Back Blogging

I said in a video that I uploaded that I would be back blogging. And I can't believe that it's been nearly three months since I blogged. Gods, I must of been one anti-social person. Anyway, glad to be back blogging and I'm looking forward to blogging more. I will be back with things that I've found on the net, including the whole thing with not having George's wife not being apart of the attempt to get the Parthenon marbles back.

Hello, if a huge pile of artifacts is going to be returned to Iraq then why can't the marbles be returned. I really shake my head. Anyway, hope that you all had a great winter. I know that there were a ton of people that were complaining about the cold, snow, and freezing rain, and I hope that your area is nice and pleasant. Mine was, the morons came out.

Have a great day.
